The Shrewsbury Night Bus
Trial now extended - running January-March 2026
Getting home from a night out in Shrewsbury is easy when you hop on one of our safe, warm Night Buses.
This is a trial service aimed at making late-night travel safer, more affordable and more convenient for everyone enjoying the town’s evening and night-time offer.
Originally trialled in Nov-Dec 2025, the Night Bus Trial has now been extended to run through Jan-Mar 2026, thanks to funding from West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion’s Community Fund.
Running Wednesday to Saturday until midnight every week, the Night Bus connects the town centre with key residential areas across Shrewsbury:
N11 – Gains Bark / Bicton Heath (now including Oxon Park & Ride)
N25 – Harlescott
N27 – Bayston Hill
Fares are simple and great value:
£2 for adults
£1 for children (under 16)
£5 group ticket for up to five people travelling together
FREE travel for the first week (24–29 November)
Concessions travel free
Weekly and monthly Arriva passes are accepted
Rangers, Taxi Marshalls and venue staff will be on hand on Fridays and weekends to help direct you to the right stop.

About the Night Bus Trial
The Night Bus is being delivered by the Shrewsbury Big Town Plan Partnership, led by Shrewsbury BID and operated by Arriva, with support from the Shrewsbury Transport Integration Group (STIG), chaired by Shrewsbury MP Julia Buckley.
The service responds directly to local calls for better late-night transport, particularly for hospitality workers, young people, and those returning from evening events.
By offering a safe, dependable and low-cost way to get home, the Night Bus aims to:
Increase safety in key areas such as riverside paths
Reduce long walks home
Support staff working late
Encourage visitors to stay longer in town
Improve public transport options during peak evening hours
What our partners say
Rob Wilson, Leader of Shrewsbury Town Council and Portfolio Holder for Economic Growth and Transport:
“This night bus trial is an exciting development for Shrewsbury and a clear example of how the Shrewsbury Moves strategy is supporting projects like this and beginning to shape positive change for movement in the town. Improving public transport, especially at times when people need it most, helps make our town more connected, sustainable and welcoming.”
Julia Buckley, MP for Shrewsbury:
“I’m thrilled to see the Night Bus launching this November. Late-night transport has been a real concern raised with me by local people. This new service will make a huge difference, keeping people safe and supporting our local economy. I want to thank Shrewsbury BID and all the partners involved for turning this idea into action.”
Toby France, Arriva:
“We’re delighted to be part of this new initiative. The Festive Night Bus will give people an easy, affordable and sustainable way to travel home after enjoying everything Shrewsbury has to offer at night.”
